how to upload images

prerequisites

  • make sure your images fullfill the necessary minimum image-format and resolutions

  • make sure the image you are going to use is not under copyright protection.

upload and add your images

  1. Find the relevant image link in the source you are working from (spreadsheet, list of revised articles, etc…), if there is no such link or if you feel that the image does not fit find an image yourself. In either case, ensure that the picture is copyright-free see also where to get images

  2. Download the image to your computer (at the minimum 1920px width and 1080px height) and label it descriptively (ideally including the name or topic of the article) always in English even if working in another language, e.g.: child-with-cerebral-paresis.jpg. Always use “-” not “_” between words.

  3. Open PIMCORE, go to “assets” > “your country” (e.g. Germany) and then locate the folder where you should upload your file and do so (this varies from country to country so ask if you are not sure)

  4. Add user-defined metadata: alt, title, copyright

    1. alt: Short, incisive description of the image (this is the image’s description for visually-impaired persons)

    2. Title: Informative title of the image, usually copy pasting the picture’s caption from your source article would be sufficient

    3. Copyright: Image source (e.g. unsplash or pixabay)

  5. Set the picture’s focal point using the tool available under “view”

  6. Add predefined data and maintain user-defined metadata in different languages (for ex. de_CH and fr_CH) if needed (i.e. title and alt, copyright is the same for all languages)

  7. Save and publish

why do i see a dashed red outline on some images?

images with a missing ALT-text will be highlighted in the backend - please add the corresponding ALT-text like described above. after adding the ALT-text and saving the image-object, simply use the “refresh”-button in the editor and the outline will be gone
